Historic Moment for TSB Solutions - 10,000th Solo Hardware Unit Ships |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
Toronto, ON, Nov. 24, 2009 – TSB Solutions Inc. is proud to announce the shipment today of the 10,000th Solo Remote Element Monitor (REM) to its largest European customer. |
TSB Solutions specializes in developing hardware, software and managed services solutions used by telephone companies, service providers, maintainers and end users to remotely monitor and manage network costs, service, performance and change. |
The Solo product line was launched shortly after a TSB employee group purchased the assets of former TSX-listed-company, TSB International Inc., from Peregrine Systems of San Diego. Included in the assets purchased was Peregrine’s family of Spectif REM’s. |

“Since TSB’s launch of the Solo brand, the telecom industry has undergone dramatic changes,” noted TSB President David Kirwan. “The emphasis is no longer on dial-up modem connections to monitor proprietary PBX alarm sets. Today the action is on corporate private LAN’s and on the Internet” |
In response, Solo units now feature multiple network interface cards, permitting service providers to use discrete Equipment LAN and Enterprise LAN resources to access and manage Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) elements, network service levels, applications and data while the managed CPE elements remain protected behind end-users’ network firewalls. Protocol-based SNMP traps have replaced the proprietary OEM alarms of before. |
In response to customers’ business requirements, select Solo models can be equipped with ‘always on’ ADSL (Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) modems, familiar to many home Internet users. “Our largest customer is in the process of re-engineering their entire national install base from a circuit-switched voice facility to a packet-switched VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) network”, added Mr. Kirwan. “Such a massive transition calls for changes in the way we specify and develop our Solo product offerings; the ADSL modem feature is just one example.” |
TSB Solutions’ Solo hardware and software is used in 35 countries to consistently capture and transport alarms, traffic, configuration and billing data from network equipment. TSB also develops software applications used for data transport, network security, billing and performance configuration; and operates Calls, Canada’s leading telephone cost allocation service bureau. |
